It is important to develop new methods and tools to study GPCRs in their native environment (G protein coupling, signaling, oligomerization, desensitization and recycling) to better understand their function and develop new drug candidates. We are developing biosensors based on Förster-type resonance energy transfer (FRET, HTRFÒ) or bioluminescence (BRET) technologies for the study of all GPCRs. On the other hand, we are developing specific ligands to study mGlu and GABA-B receptors, such as small molecules or camelid antibodies (nanobodies), and some of them are light-controllable.

FRET technologies as methods of choice to study cell surface GPCRs.
