Many deadly pathogens are exploiting the presence of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) at the surface of human cells through the binding and the control of their function to ultimately invade and kill organisms. Blocking this hijacking process by preventing pathogens to bind and control GPCR signaling constitutes an attractive but underexplored strategy. In our laboratory, we are particularly interested in determining the molecular, structural and pharmacological mechanism allowing pathogens, by using specific secreted proteins, to target host GPCRs.
