Cutting-edge scientific environment

The Institute of Functional Genomics is an ideal environment for post-docs. Bringing together research teams with multidisciplinary themes, fundamental research forms the basis of many projects. Located on the Arnaud de Villeneuve Campus and in the immediate vicinity of the Faculty of Medicine and hospitals, the IGF is an ideal site for developing translational research. More than a third of the teams include clinicians. Fruitful collaborations with industry and the hosting of start-ups within the institute will also enable you to interact with players in private research. The IGF is supported by cutting-edge technological platforms, giving you an exceptional environment in which to carry out innovative projects.

Stimulating interactions

Under the supervision of the team leader, postdocs benefit from high-quality mentoring, guaranteed thanks to the teams’ accreditation by the institutional supervisors (CNRS, Inserm and the University of Montpellier). You will also benefit from the Institute’s collaborative environment. You will be able to share your data at weekly meetings, institute seminars or as part of the YISS ‘Young Investigators Seminars Series’, a format for oral presentations aimed at doctoral and post-doctoral students to ensure that exchanges run smoothly and to mentor younger students.
The SP’IN ‘Student/Postdoctoral IGF Network’ regularly organises ‘Happy Hours’ (breakfasts or aperitifs at the end of the day) as well as SP’IN Days, a biennial symposium reserved for the Institute’s young researchers.
A biennial two-day scientific meeting (held outside the laboratory, on the seafront) brings together all the Institute’s staff, stimulating scientific exchanges and sharing moments of conviviality.

Personal and professional development

Language courses, networking, mentoring and seminars dedicated to the different careers that can be envisaged with a scientific background all provide opportunities for professional and personal development.
Postdocs are supported by representatives of their college on the laboratory council, who report any problems encountered and help to resolve them. The IGF’s Department directors and Human Resources department are available to provide you with personalised advice to boost your career and support you in your personal development.

Social benefits

France is a great place to work! You will benefit from social security which covers the majority of medical expenses for you and your family. Your employment contract entitles you to 7 weeks‘ paid annual leave and 16 weeks’ paid maternity leave. Montpellier is a sunny, dynamic city where life is good, with all the services of a large city, between the sea and the mountains.
