Amaury François, Scientist Researcher, has been awarded the CNRS Bronze Medal 2024.
After a thesis defended in Montpellier in 2013 on the excitability of neurons responsible for pain transmission, Amaury worked for 4 years on the top-down control of pain and endogenous opioids at Stanford University in Gregory Scherrer’s team. He was recruited as a Scientific Researcher at CNRS in 2018 and joined the team “Calcium channel dynamics and nociception” headed by Emmanuel Bourinet. Amaury demonstrated that a specific population of neurons innervating the skin could be at the origin of pro-social behaviors. This study was published in Science Advances in 2022 (Huzard et al., Sci. Adv., 2022). He has since obtained several grants to continue his work on the cortical integration of affective and social touch. In particular, Amaury is among the first laureates of the Impulscience program, funded by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation. In 2023, Amaury is one the laureates of the IGF “Emerging/Junior teams” call for proposals, and set up his team entitled “Neuronal networks for affective and social touch“.
Congralutations Amaury !
